BUOB 3 Martlesham Old Boys 2

In a real thriller of a match well refereed by Paul Bailey, Bramford progressed to the quarter finals of the ITFC Community Cup for the very first time when they overcame strong opponents, Martlesham, who are flying high in the next division up.

Both sides looked to get the ball down and play at every opportunity and there was some excellent passing that was very pleasing on the eye. Both sides created some good opportunities in a goalless first half and the highlight was a fantastic save from the visiting keeper to deny an Ian Buxton drive that looked certain to put Bramford ahead afetr he had worked an opportunity.

The second half saw both sides continue to play in the same style and on the hour Ricky O'Neill drove home a superb cross from Stan Wragg who delivered a perfect pass from the left with the outside of his right foot.

Back stormed Martlesham who were level within five minutes as a similar move presented the attacker to bundle the ball past Gary Cox. Then came a definite penalty for Martlesham following a misstimed tackle from Darren Smith, the kick being struck home perfectly.

Bramford's heads stayed up and the scores were levelled when Ricky O'Neill was presented with a one on one and he made no mistake, tucking his effort past the keeper. With both sides going for it, Bramford got their noses in front again thanks to Ian Buxton who, with his back to goal, flicked his header over the keeper and in to the net.

The final ten minutes had Bramford's supporters holding their breath until the final whistle blown by Paul Bailey who had an outstaning game in the middle. A super game to play in and watch for sure and all the best to Martlesham for the rest of the season.
