Hadleigh RBL 6 BUOB 1

Bramford's hopes of extending their lead at the top of the table were dashed emphatically when a determined and creative Hadleigh RBL put the visitors to the sword. The visitors started quite brightly but sufferred an early loss when Mattie McLaughlin was the victim of a rather rash challenge which unfortunately led to him being carried off, Drew Turner substituting. Hadleigh gradually imposed control of the game and took th elead after about twenty minutes when Gary Cox was given no chance with a good finish from inside the box. Ian Buxton had an opportunity to level shortly afterwards but unfortunately screwed his effort well wide of the goal. There were also a couple of chances for Ricky O'Neill and Scott Welton but the home keeper was largely untroubled and it wasn't long before Hadleigh extended their lead after a mix up in the Bramford defence following a corner and then a defence splitting ball presented an RBL player to deftly slide the ball home.

Bramford's hopes of reducing the arrears at the start of the second half were short lived when after only five minutes Hadleigh scored their fourth and it wasn't long before a fifth put Hadleigh well on top. Bramford were just not creating anything up front and all too frequently resembled the England side as the ball was repeatedly presented to their opponents who took full advantage with twenty minutes remaining by notching up number six. It was left to centre back Aron Boorman to at last put Bramford on the score board when he burst forward, brushed off a couple of defenders and rifled the ball into the net. Dan Turner replaced Ricky O'Neill with twenty minutes remaining and though Bramford kept going, it was to no avail.

Well played RBL, deserved winners on the day and a big wake up call to the visitors who have an opportunity to get one back on Hadleigh when they entertain Otto Campanelli next Sunday!
