BUOB 1 Hadleigh RBL 1
Considering the strength of the wind blowing straight down the pitch, both sides did extremely well to make this encounter an enjoyable game to both play in and watch.
Bramford knew they needed something from this return affair and produced a determined and gutsy performance against a very talented side who have pace and strength in abundance. Bramford had the wind advantage in the first half and did create some opportunities early on.
Scott Welton and Mattie McLaughlin were seeing a lot of the ball in midfield and Adam Turner and Stan Wragg on the flanks were potting in some fine crosses. Unfortunately for the home side, a slip at the back let in an RBL forward who placed his shot just inside the post with keeper Gary Cox slipping as he tried to position himself. Bramford's heads didn't drop and the equaliser came when Stan Wragg's corner from the left found its way in to the Hadleigh net at the near post. Shortly after Darren Smith had a good chance with a header but unfortunately it drifted past the post. Ricky O'Neill also had an opportunity but his shot lacked power to beat the keeper.
During the second half Bramford tried to keep the ball down and dug in well with the back four of Mattie Pryke, Aron Boorman, Darren Smith and Shaun Smith outstanding. Only once did RBL look to have nicked the points, but the ball was scrambled away by Gary Cox and his defence.
RBL were enjoying the greater possession, but Bramford's breaks did stretch the RBL defence on a few occasions and the game ended honours even.
